In the late 1870s, when all furniture was made of wood and finished by hand, individual pieces stood out for only two reasons - extraordinary design and exquisite craftsmanship. As time rolled on, those defining characteristics were more or less lost to new-fangled production techniques and me-too overseas design. Until now. Hand-rubbed, originally conceived and pristinely made, our Barrister Bed pays homage to the long-lost art of American made furniture. The repeated, upright panel motif is match laid in hand-rubbed mahogany, revealing a stunning arched cathedral grain. Corner columns anchor both the head and footboards, while raised stack and panel molding outlines virtually every detail. With a slight flare at the edges, the rasp-treated footboard makes a casual leaning post for straightening a seam or tying a tie. Elegantly aged in our premium Blair finish, the Barrister Bed is a solid maple frame with inlaid mahogany veneers.
